Elephants are the largest land animals in the world. They are not just magnificent creatures but their behavior is very interesting to study. Have you ever heard about an elephant sanctuary? Yes, there’s an elephant sanctuary in Pinnawala, Sri Lanka. What they do is bring back the calves who have lost their parents due to various incidents especially due to human activity and raise them until they can survive on their own. There is a nearby bathing place and all the elephants have a day’s bath at a specified time in the day. Also, it is very interesting to look at the way the calves drink bottled milk.
The government carries this project for a considerable time period as it is the high time we protect these magnificent creatures.
I was able to capture some of the live moments of jumbo life in Pinnawala and thought of sharing them with you.
